4C Super Modified's at Motorsports 2012 (Jan 10)

    The 4C Super Modified's will be at Motorsports 2012 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks PA on January 20-22, The Car's of Ron Merlino #62 and Wes Gilbert #8x will be on hand. 2012 Schedule and other information will be available.

Mike Renn clinches second Championship (0ct 1)

Rain washed out the 4c Super Modifieds race at the Mahoning Valley Speedway on october 1st. With no make up for the race this concludes the 2011 season, Mike Renn of Medford NY clinches his second 4c Super Modified Championship. His first title was in 2006. Renn registered a series high five wins in 2011.

Mike Renn gets fifth win at Shenandoah (Sept 17th

Mike Renn of Medford NY took his fifth win of the 2011 season at the Shenandoah Speedway.  Renn held off the challenges of Ron Merlino Jr to take the win.

 The 4C Super Modifieds would  set there feature lineup through European qualifying. Mike Renn would set fast time with a time of 16.091. Wes Gilbert 16.138, Steve Renn 16.228, Ron Merlino Jr 16.230 and Ron Merlino Sr 16.570 would round out the top 5The top six would get inverted which would put Bob Renn and Ron Merlino Sr on the front row for the feature. At the drop of the green Bob R would have trouble getting going allowing Ron Merlino Sr to take the lead with Steve Renn and Mike Renn following. Steve R would make a move for the lead on lap 2. The top 3 would pull away slightly with Wes Gilbert making a move past Ron Merlino Jr for fourth. Gilbert would begin to real  in the top 3. Mike R would make a move to second on lap 8 with Gilbert following into third. Gilbert would move into second and would start to put the pressure on Steve R for the lead. Gilbert would make a move into turn 3 for the lead on lap 10. Steve R would stay on his bumper. On lap 12 Steve R would get into the back of Gilbert spinning him around for the first caution. On the restart Mike R would get the advantage and take over the lead with Steve R feeling pressure from now R Merlino Jr. Steve R would try a make a high move for the lead off of turn 2 but would get to high and end up in the wall bringing out the caution lap 19. On the restart Mike R would get the jump but Merlino Jr would put the pressure on. Anthony Merlino got a great restart and jumped up third right behind the lead duo. Merlino Jr would keep looking low to take over the lead but couldn’t make the pass. Anthony Merlino would make it a three car battle. R Merlino Jr would make a last move on the last lap but just could get by and Mike Renn would take down the win with Ron Merlino Jr , Anthony Merlino, Wes Gilbert, Ron Merlino Sr, Mike Crispo, Bob Renn and Steve Renn the top 8. Mike Renn extended his point lead to 65 over Wes Gilbert going into the season finale on October 1st at the Mahoning Valley Speedway.

        

Mike Renn Grabs fourth win of the season At Mahoning (Sept 3rd) 

Mike Renn of Medford NY took his fourth win of the 2011 season at the Mahoning Valley Speedway. Renn passed Steve Renn with 5 laps to go and held off a last lap charge to take the win. 

The qualifying heat for the 4C Super Modifieds would line up with Bob Renn and Ron Merlino Jr on the front row. Renn would get the jump on the start with Steve Renn moving into second. The caution would come out on lap 2 with Wes Gilbert and Mike Crispo would come together into turn 1. Gilbert would head to the pits with right front damage. Steve Renn would go on to win the heat with Ron Merlino Sr taking second.  The feature for the night would see Anthony Merlino and Bob Renn on the front row. Merlino get the jump at the start with Ron Merlino Jr going into second. Steve Renn would make his way to third and then would make a move past Merlino JR for second and then under Anthony Merlino for the lead. Mike Renn would follow to second. M Renn would put the pressure on for the lead as Ron Merlino Sr would move into third. Mike Renn would get under S Renn with 4 laps to go to take over the lead. S Renn would stay right there and would make a charge on the final lap but Mike Renn would take down the win with Steve Renn, Ron Merlino SR, Wes Gilbert, Ron Merlino JR, Anthony Merlino, Bob Renn and Mike Crispo the top 8

Wes Gilbert takes second win at Mountain (Aug 20th)

 Wes Gilbert of Preston MD took his second win of the 2011 season at the Mountain Speedway. Gilbert held off a charge from Mike Renn in the final two laps to secure the win.

         The 4C Super Modified’s made there first visit to Mountain Speedway in over 5 years. The heat race would lineup with Ron Merlino Jr and Ron Merlino Sr on the front row with Bob Renn and Wes Gilbert in row two. Merlino Sr would get the jump at the start to take over the lead with Wes Gilbert following to take second. Miek renn from his fifth starting spot would move quickly to third and then to second past Gilbert. Renn would put the pressure on Merlino for the lead and would take over the lead just at halfway. A spin by Steve Renn would bring out the caution. On the restart M Renn would get the jump with Merlino sitting second and Bob Renn moving to third. With two laps to go Merlino would make a move off of turn two to take the lead away from Renn. Ron Merlino would hold on to take the heat win.  This would set up the 20 lap feature with Steve Renn and Wes Gilbetr in row 1. Bob Renn and Mike Renn would lineup in the second row, Ron Merlino Sr and Mike Crispo row 3 and Anthony Merlino  and Ron Merlino Jr the fourth row. At the drop of the green S Renn would get the jump and take over the lead  with Gilbert moving to second. In turn one on the second lap Ron Merlino Sr would have a problem and spin to the infield bringing out the caution. On the restart Gilbert would challenge S Renn for the lead. Gilbert would make the pass stick on the outside off of turn tow. M Renn would follow to second. M Renn would make a move for the lead on lap 7 past Gilbert into turn one. The second caution would fly for a spin by Steve Renn.. On the restart M Renn would get the jump with Bob Renn following to second and Gilbert third. B Renn would look to make a move for the lead but suddenly would spin in turn 2 with a broken radiator cap. On the restart M Renn would get the jump with S Renn following to second and Gilbert third. S Renn would make a move low into turn one with 6 laps remaining with Gilbert right behind. The Renn’s would go side by side for two laps and then on lap 17 Steve Renn would get loose off of turn two and spin bringing out the caution.. On the restart Gilbert would make a move past M Renn on the outside. Gilbert would make it stick going into turn one. M Renn would try to regain with a move off of turn two with 2 laps to go but Gilbert would fend it off. Meanwhile the battle for third was heating up with S Renn looking to get by Mike Crispo. Gilbert would go on to take the win with Mike Renn, Steve Renn,  Mike Crispo, Ron Merlino Jr, Bob Renn, Ron Merlino Sr, Anthony Merlino and Harry Weed.

 

The next race for the 4C Super Modified’s will be Saturday September 3rd at the Mahoning Valley Speedway

 

Mike Renn wins thriller at Shenandoah (June 25th

            Mike Renn of Medford NY won his 3rd 4C Super Modified race of the 2011 season at the Shenandoah Speedway. Renn and Wes Gilbert staged a great battle for the lead with the two recording 8 lead changes in 25 lap feature. Renn was able to hold off Gilbert for the win 

European Qualifying would set the starting order for the feature Mike Renn would set fast time with Wes Gilbert , Ron Merlino SR, Bob Renn and Ron Merlino JR the top 5. Anthony Merlino would not start the feature due to heavy accident in practice.. Bob R and Ron Merlino Sr would make up the front row with Wes Gilbert and Mike R in the second row. At the start  Merlino would get the jump and take over the lead. Mike R would move to second with Bob R and Wes Gilbert the top 4. Mike R would start to put the pressure on Merlino for the lead with Gilbert making a low move into turn 3 to take third. Merlino and Renn would go side by side with Gilbert closing. On lap 6 Gilbert would make a three wide move into turn 1 to take over the lead. The caution would come out on lap 7 for a spin by Ron Merlino JR. On the restart Gilbert would get the jump with Mike R moving into second. Renn would go to the outside of Gilbert. The two would run side by side lap after lap. Bob R would take over the third position over Merlino. On lap 14 Mike R would clear Gilbert for the lead. But on lap 17 Gilbert make a run and get back under Renn. Gilbert would clear Renn on Lap 19. Renn would stay right on the back bumper of Gilbert and would go to the outside on Lap 22. Renn would clear Gilbert for the lead coming to the white flag.. Gilbert would not be able to make another run and Mike Renn would take down the win with Gilbert, Bob Renn, Ron Merlino SR and Ron Merlino JR the top 5. 

The next race for the 4C Super Modifieds will be at the Mountain Speedway on Saturday July 23rd.

 

 Mike Renn wins second of the year at Bethel (Nay 28th)

 

Mike Renn of Medford Ny took his second 4C Super Modified win of the 2011 season at Bethel Motor Speedway. Renn  held off a challenge from Steve Renn and Wes Gilbert to take the victory 

The 4C Super Modifieds made there return to the Bethel Motor Speedway in Bethel NY for the first time since the 2006 season. The heat lineup would see Ron Merlino and Bob Renn on the front row with Anthony Merlino and Steve Renn in row 2. Merlino would get the jump on Renn at the start. Mike Renn would charge from 5th to third with Wes Gilbert following to 4th. Ron MErlino would have mechanical problems on the #62 and would have to go to the pits. Mike Renn would take over the lead with Wes Gilbert putting pressure on Anthony Merlino for second. Gilbert would make a low move off of turn 2 to take second. Gilbert would narrow the gap on Renn but would run out of laps. Mike Renn would take the heat win with Gilbert and Anthony Merlino following. The feature lineup would see Steve Renn and Bob Renn on the front row. Anthony Merlino and Wes Gilbert would ame up the second row. Steve Renn would get the jump at the start. Anthony Merlino would slide by bob Renn as well taking over second with Mike getting by also. Mike Renn would make a move on Merlino for second. Mike Renn would put the pressure on Steve Renn for the lead. Renn would make the move off of turn 2 to move past for the lead. Gilbert would make a move past Bob Renn and then a couple of laps later he would move past Merlino for third. The caution would come out with 3 laps to go for Bob Renn who stalled. On the restart Mike Renn would get the jump. Steve Renn would put the pressure on with Wes Gilbert sitting back in third. Mike Renn would be able to hold off Steve Renn for the win with Gilbert, Anthony Merlino, Bob Renn, Harry Weed and Ron Merlino.

 

The next stop for the 4C Super Modifieds will be Saturday June 11th at the Mahoning Valley Speedway in PA

 

Wes Gilbert wins first of the year at Mahoning (May 21)

            

 Defending series Champion Wes Gilbert of Preston MD took his first win of the year at the Mahoning Valley Speedway. Gilbert used a low move into turn 1 on the final lap to pass Mike Renn.

The 4C Super Modified’s headed back to the Mahoning Valley Speedway for there second race of the year . The heat lineup would see Steve Renn and Wes Gilbert on the front row with Mike Renn on Bob Renn in row 2. Renn would get the jump on Gilbert at the start . Mike Renn would follow to second with Ron Merlino moving into third. Mike Renn would make a quick move low on the second lap into turn 1 to take the  lead with Merlino moving to second and Wes Gilbert to third. The caution would come out for a spin by Anthony Merlino in turn 3. On the restart Renn would get the jump on Merlino. Gilbert would follow to take over second. Gilbert would put the pressure on Renn. With 2 laps to go Gilbert would make a low move going into turn 3. Renn would hang tough on the outside. Gilbert would clear Renn on the final lap to take the heat win Renn and Merlino close behind.  This would set up the feature. Steve Renn and Ron Merlino would make up the front row with Mike Renn and Wes Gilbert in row 2, Anthony Merlino and Bob Renn in row 3 and Mike Crispo starting seventh. Steve Renn would get the jump on Merlino as they took the green. Mike Renn would follow into second. Merlino would slip up in turn 2 Anthony and Wes Gilbert running side by side would end up 3 wide with Ron Merlino. Gilbert would have to back out. The top 5 would wage a great battle with Mike Renn and Steve Renn side by side for the lead and the Merlino’s looking high and low and Wes Gilbert hanging back in fifth. Mike Renn would feel the pressure from Steve Renn and Ron Merlino. Wes Gilbert would slip by Anthony Merlino for fourth as they came to halfway. Gilbert then would move past Ron Merlino and a lap later would duck under Steve Renn for second. Gilbert would start putting the pressure on Renn for the lead. With 3 laps to go Gilbert maek a move on Renn going into turn 3 but the caution would come out for a spin by Ron Merlino. This would set up a green white checker finish. Renn would lead as the green came out with Gilbert right on his bumper. Gilbert would make a move coming off the fourth corner heading to the white flag. The two would touch going into turn 1. Renn would try a cross over coming off turn 2 but it didn’t work. Wes Gilbert would  take down his first win of the year. Mike Renn would follow in second with Steve who beat Anthony Merlino by just inches for third and Bob Renn, Ron Merlino and Mike Crispo the top 7.
