Mike Crispo get first Win of the year at Mahoning (June 27th)

Mike Crispo of Bridgeton NJ won his first race of the 2009 season at the Mahoning Valley Speedway this past Saturday. He held off the charges of Steve Renn to take the win.
As the 4C Super Modified's took too the track for there first event at Mahoning Valley. The heat would line up with Ron Merlino and Mike Renn making up the front row. Merlino would get the jump as the rest of the field would go single file. The front 5 of Merlino, Mike Renn, Mike Crispo, Steve Renn and Wes Gilbert would run nose to tail. Renn would look to get around Merlino but Ron Merlino would take down the heat win followed by Mike Renn, Mike Crispo, Wes Gilbert and Steve Renn. The feature would line up with Bob Renn and Steve Renn on the front row with Wes Gilbert and Mike Crispo row 2. On the start Bob Renn would run side by side with Steve Renn into turn 1. Steve Renn would get high and this would allow Mike Crispo to split both Renn's and take over the lead with Steve Renn, Merlino, Mike Renn and Wes Gilbert in tow. On lap 5 Mike Renn would make a move on Merlino down the backstretch but contact would be made with Renn spinning and Wes Gilbert having know where to go and making heavy contact. Both Gilbert woulld have heavy damage and both there night were done. On the Restart Crispo would get the jump but Steve Renn would put the pressure on. Past halfway Renn would spin trying to get around Crispo. Ron Merlino was forced out of the race at this point with a broken axel. On the next restart Crispo would get the jump on Bob Renn. Steve Renn would move to second and then Bob Renn would spin bringing out the caution. Bob Renn would also break an axel and would be done for the night. Joe Jackson would move up to third. With just a couple of laps left Crispo would again get the jump on Steve Renn. Renn would keep the pressure on but couldn't find a way around him and Mike Crispo would take down the win with Steve Renn, Joe Jackson, Bob Renn, Ron Merlino, Mike Renn and Wes Gilbert the top 7.
The next race for the 4C Super Modified's will be at Wall Stadium on Saturday June 11th

The 4C Super Modified's are 5/8th Scale of the full sized Super Modified's with stock 600cc Motorcycle motors. The series a more affordable fun way to go Open wheel racing. In 2009 the series travels to Wall Stadium in Belmar NJ, Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton PA and Shenandaoh Speedway in Shenandoah VA.
